How to convert a Google Maps route to GPX
Use GPXForge to turn a Google Maps directions URL into a downloadable GPX file for navigation devices and route apps.
Start with a directions URL
Open Google Maps, build the route you want, then copy the full directions URL from your browser or share menu.
GPXForge works best when the URL contains the actual route and waypoints, because plain place names can be recalculated differently by routing providers.
Convert and download
Paste the Google Maps URL into GPXForge. The app resolves the route, generates a GPX file, and opens a temporary route page.
Use Download GPX to save the file, or open it in gpx.studio if you want to inspect or edit the track first.
Know the limits
Google Maps does not provide a native GPX export, so GPXForge reconstructs the route through supported APIs and route data.
If a route fails, try a full desktop Google Maps URL with clear origin, destination, and waypoints.
